Elk River, Minn. (December 8, 1997) -- SolarAttic, Inc. announced today that it has received notice from the Patent and Trademark Office that all claims are now allowable on its fourth, duct technology, patent. The title of the patent is: "AIR DISTRIBUTOR OR COLLECTOR." The company's CIP application 08/717,148 was filed on September 20, 1996. Payment of the issue fee is due by February 13, 1998. The patent, which will issue sometime thereafter, will expire 20 years from the filing date or September 20, 2016. The company has already begun its international patent filings.
The company's first application of the new duct technology is the SolarAttic Ridge Ventilator which vents the attic from the inside of its structure and eliminates the need for roof vents. The new duct technology has other applications for the even collection or even distribution of air along the length of any duct. SolarAttic has also developed a new solar technology that uses the hot air inside attics for inexpensively heating swimming pools, space and hot water. This is accomplished by using heat exchange systems inside the attic which eliminates the need for roof mounted solar panels. Thus, solar energy systems with no solar panels. When the new duct technology is used in conjunction with the company's new solar technology, heat collection is enhanced inside the attic.
Ed Palmer, SolarAttic's CEO said: "This is very exciting news for SolarAttic. The new duct technology has very broad applications in the building, housing and energy markets. When applied to residential housing, the new technology is expected to greatly enhance human comfort while at the same time significantly reducing the energy demand of the structure. The company expects that its new patent will be a major contributor to future revenues and profits."
