SolarAttic Technology
Makes All Attic Ventilation Fans Smarter

Elk River, MN. (June 1, 1999) -- SolarAttic, Inc announced today that it has shipped the first of its new electronic control named the SAVC02. The control was designed for use with the company's patented duct technology for ventilation of the attic. It was also designed to be compatible with all attic fans, which typically use a mechanical 105-degree switch. SolarAttic's new control contains a solid state temperature and humidity sensor that is highly accurate to subzero temperatures. It will make all attic ventilation fans smarter and more sophisticated in their ventilation capabilities.

The new control senses a winter condition when attic temperature reaches 28°F. Below 28°F, the attic is vented whenever excess humidity is detected. This is defined as exceeding 35% Rh. Humidity is constantly monitored and ventilation is only allowed to continue if it declines. This takes into effect winter storms that can temporarily raise humidity levels. The attic is vented between 28°F and 60°F (spring). This is the temperature range in which ice-dams form. By venting constantly, the internal attic temperature is equalized to the outside ambient. Without a temperature difference on the roof, no ice-dams can form. Above 105 degrees, summer venting occurs to reduce air conditioning costs.

The new control can be used with SolarAttic space heating systems. It senses heat-availability at 70°F during the spring and fall. Free attic solar heat can then be used to reduce space-heating expenses. Ed Palmer, SolarAttic’s CEO said: "This is an exciting development for SolarAttic and represents yet another expansion of our proprietary technology. The company now expects to file for a fifth patent."

SolarAttic has developed a big piece of the solution to global warming by using all of the heat inside your attic. SolarAttic has discovered how to use this huge untapped heat resource for heating swimming pools, hot water and space. It's low cost energy, almost free to use! SolarAttic patented this new heating technology. The company's fourth patent allows this heating technology to be more efficient. In addition, SolarAttic's technology can control attic ventilation eliminating ice-dams and roof vents.
